Having explored sculpture to MA level at Winchester School of Art, Lucy went on to teach in further education for 6 years before moving to paint in Cornwall where she exhibited.

For the last few years she has been enjoying the physicality and the form of the Italian landscape, attempting to capture in painting and sculpture the intimacy and connection that she feels to certain places. She enjoys working with clay and other natural materials, using “truth to the materials”; understanding the physical properties within the materials.

When I create art I use both unpredictable intuitive practices and balance this with an ingrained formal studied knowledge, and through the process I reflect and reform theories and feelings through my individual language. This is a process, a ritual. It is to inspire others into the same connectedness with nature and encourage our necessity to respect it.

Lucy annually runs painting courses at the creative retreat Rimondato.
